The Sertoma Club of Greenwood announces cancellation of WAMMfest 2020, their annual Wine, Arts, Music, and Microbrew festival scheduled for August 15 at Craig Park in Greenwood, Indiana.
In light of circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Sertoma Club of Greenwood has made the decision to cancel WAMMfest 2020.
"We made this decision with heavy hearts, but believe that it is in the best interest of the health, welfare and safety of our festival attendees, volunteers, sponsors, artists, wineries, breweries, food vendors, bands and the community at large." noted Jackie Briggs, President of The Sertoma Club of Greenwood. "Additionally, the social nature of our WAMMfest event will make it difficult to be able to coincide with the city and state's personal distancing measures, which the Sertoma Club fully supports."
While information surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic is changing on a daily basis, the successful execution of each year's WAMMfest requires hundreds of hours of planning, contributions from community organizations and volunteers as well as significant upfront coordination and logistics. In fairness to all, the club felt it better to make a determination on the viability of WAMMfest 2020 sooner rather than later.
"The mission of Sertoma Club of Greenwood is Service To Mankind, and all net proceeds from WAMMfest are distributed directly back into the community. In our service to mankind, the safety of everyone involved must be the greatest priority." adds Michelle McMahon, Board Chair of The Sertoma Club of Greenwood.
Please mark your calendars for WAMMfest 2021, which will be held on August 21, 2021.
